FOOD SCHEDULE

For the extreme long distance races, my food schedule comes down to 'as much as they want'

In short, the food schedule I maintain is based on or similar to the one of Frans Bungeneers.

See www.fransbungeneers.be for more interesting opinions related to - among other things - paratyphus.

A: moulting mixture from 2 firms

B: energy-filled mixture

C: mixture with small corn cribs but without legumes

D: purge or barley (in winter)

IN WINTER

the ratio of the mixture (4A + 1C + 1D purge + 1D barley) 1x a day, around noon, until the barley is left over

FROM THE 1ST OF MARCH

same as in winter, but 2x a day, until the barley is left over

FROM THE COUPLING ONWARDS

the mixture is (5A + 2C + 1D purge) until the barley is left over

FROM MIDDLE DISTANCE ONWARDS

an extra part of yellow corn cribs is added to the mixture

ONCE LONG DISTANCE

an extra part B (fatty) is added to the mixture

  • Raising through extra corn + fatty + small seeds individually in the nesttray.

  • Number of days raising = number of nights basket + 1.

  • First day a spoontip and building towards a spoonfull of each.

  • Nest pigeons get fed 3x a day - widowers in the morning and at night.

  • The barley in the mixture serves as the regulator

  • Except in winter, there's always some barley in the common cratch.
